The Bitter Root Humane Association has been serving our community since 1972. We are the only open admission animal shelter in Western Montana and care for over 1000 animals each year providing safe shelter, food, medical attention and love while each pet waits for their new forever home, no matter how long it takes!

Part-Time Shelter Veterinarian

Part Time - 25 hours per week
Starting Pay: $17.00 hour DOE

The Bitter Root Humane Association (BRHA) in beautiful Hamilton, Montana, is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and community-minded Part-Time Veterinarian to join our team. If you are passionate about shelter medicine, high-quality care, and supporting the human-animal bond, we want to hear from you.
As we expand our community medical care capacity and enhance our mission-driven programs—including our burgeoning Community Cat Program initiatives and animal rescue operations—this role offers the chance to make a tangible impact in the Bitterroot Valley.

Front Desk Coordinator

Full Time - 40 hours per week
Starting Pay: $13.00 per hour

Our Front Desk Coordinator acts as gatekeeper for other staff and management. They allow access to other employees, answer phones, take messages, schedule appointments, answer questions, give directions and manage the flow of traffic in the office. In addition, this position manages social media accounts, animal inventory logs, monetary transactions and acts as the face and spokesperson for the organization by greeting people as they enter and determining their needs. Must be 18 years or older to apply.

Animal Care Attendant/Adoption Counselor

Full Time/Part Time - hours and schedules varied
Starting pay: $13.00 per hour

Our Animal Care Attendant/Adoption Counselors are the backbone of our shelter. They are responsible for the entire animal care of our “guests” which includes all aspects of sheltering, feeding, cleaning, exercising, training & loving. These positions also deal with the public and potential adopters. Must be 18 years or older to apply.
